Back In Time

Llewelyn Avenue is conveniently located just off Mostyn Street and is surprisingly quiet given it’s location as Upper Mostyn is host to a variety of restaurants, cafe’s & bars. The street itself has a popular cafe & hairdressers alongside some residential & holiday accommodation and at the Mostyn Street end is a classic example of a Welsh chapel from 1875, the Tabernacle Welsh Baptist Chapel which is currently used to host art exhibitions throughout the year.

Below is a photo taken sometime after the construction of the chapel, when the Llewelyn Avenue was known as Llewelyn Street, the church on the left of the photograph is now an indoor children’s play centre, Bonkerz.

The trees have long since gone (killed by Dutch Elm disease) and there are cars parked on the street but not much else has changed, the Victorian charm of the street remains to this day.
